Timed-Event Participants

Event participants who patronize events supported by FinishLine get better event results reporting and results analysis tools than they have ever had access to before.

Event Viewer

For the participants of any timed event, the event results are important. And it is not just about who won. Everyone wants to know how well they did. Everyone wants to know their time and how it stacks up against their own selected criteria. That is what event participants deserve, and that is what they get with the FinishLine Event Viewer.

The FinishLine Event Viewer allows event participants (and enthusiasts) to view the resulting event data from many different perspectives and viewpoints.

Who had the best time among the 50 year old females? Who was the fastest male in the county. How many people participated from my zip code and how did I stack up against that group?

You select the criteria. You control the data. It is only limited by your own imagination.

Event results are not just about who won.

Make sure the next event you participate in supports your result reporting requirements, look for events that use Finishline by Abooma.

See the FinishLine Event Viewer for more information.

Event Registration

Have you ever hesitated to register for an event using an online registration service because you didn't trust what they would do with your information?

It's happened to you before. Have you ever signed up for an event and soon after your mailbox started to fill up with advertisements for shoes, promotions for other events, or worse yet, completely non-related junk and spam?

Take a close look at the companies that provide registration services. Their web sites are full of pop-ups, check boxes, and fly-throughs that bombard you with advertisements for goods, services, and competing events that aren't related to the event you are signing up for.

It is irritating. It is annoying. It is frustrating. It is no wonder why you might hesitate to use them.

You won't get that when you sign up for an event that uses FinishLine Registration; No pop-ups, no fly-throughs, no cross-selling or up-selling.

What you will get is:

  • A simple registration interface that takes care of the business at hand
  • E-mail confirmation of your registration
  • Access to the FinishLine Event Registrar to confirm your event registration status
  • Access to "What is this charge on my credit card?," a simple interface to determine event-specific information that is associated with a charge that appears on your credit card statement
  • A safe online transaction that is secured by VeriSign, an Enterprise Class Secure Socket Layer (SSL) provider that uses a high-security, fully redundant data center to provide the safest transactions in the industry.

You can also be assured to know that no credit card information is stored on our servers. That means that in the unlikely event that our server security is compromised, none of your confidential transaction information is exposed, because other than the last four digits of your credit card, no transaction details are stored on any Abooma servers.

This is just another simple measure to protect our customers and give them the confidence to register for events without exposing their personal data or subjecting them to after-market propaganda.

Expect nothing less from Abooma.

Why You Should Use Online Registration

You have seen it before, your name is misspelled, your listed age is not correct, or they show you as a female and you aren't. This is what occurs with data that is transcribed from paper entry forms into the timing system software. Mistakes happen, it is just simple human error.

Someone spends hours squinting at the paper entry forms trying to decipher the handwriting. Over and over for hundreds or maybe even thousands of entry forms. It's surprising that it is even close to being accurate.

When you register online, you key in your own information. The person who best knows the information, provides it. If your name is spelled incorrectly you only have yourself to blame.

But why is having the correct data important?

Besides the immediate and obvious presentation of awards to the correct people, it offers new ways to perform data analysis on the data from many different perspectives that are not currently available.

Who is the fastest 45 year old 5K female runner in Florida, Palm Beach County, Delray Beach, or zip code 33483?

Years of data have already been lost.

Maintaining and Preserving Event Data

Maintaining and preserving unique data and data relationships is important.

Sure, your race director says that they send your data off to a national archive. But what does that mean. Do you have access to that data? Does anyone?

The Name Your City Annual 5K Run has been staged for 25 years. Who holds the all-time fastest course record for 45 year old females? My guess is that the data required to figure this out might be available. Someone may have archived the static result reports for the 25 events in a folder somewhere. Maybe not.

The point is that FinishLine by Abooma, is dedicated to this endeavor. Data maintenance and preservation.

Here is Where the Abooma Login Comes In

We are dedicated to preserving this data and the data relationships down to the individual. But to do that, we require one more piece of information. That information is your Abooma Login.

By using his Abooma Login and the associated Password each time he registers for an event we know that the results of a timed event are associated with the Bill Jones in Miami who was 45 years old on the day of the event and not the other Bill Jones who also lives in Miami and is also 45 years old but didn't participate in this event.

I know you are thinking that your name is more unique than that, but the reality is that without the confirming Abooma Login and the corresponding Password there would be no way to perform searches or data analysis on Your Data. And although all the aggregate data for an event that uses FinishLine by Abooma is preserved, the data associated with any individual can only be preserved for individuals that have and use an Abooma Login when they register for an event.
